Technologies relates particularly to contexts that provide scope for developing skills, knowledge, understanding and attributes through creative, practical and work-related activities.

Technology is the application of knowledge and skills to extend human capabilities and to help and satisfy human needs and wants. In these circumstances it has, is and will continue to be an essential component of a nation's economic prosperity.

Learning in this curricular area promotes research, problem solving, exploration of new and unfamiliar concepts. Students will develop their creativity and entrepreneurial skills and be encouraged to become innovative and critical designers of the future.

Practical Metalwork

Practical Metalwork is a National 4/National 5 course available to students in the Senior Phase. It builds upon the practical skills students gain through the integrated Craft, Design and Technologies course in S1 and 2 as well as the Practical Skills option available to students in S3.
