Overview for Parents & Students - Resources for online learning
Subject: Mathematics |
S2 Learners |
Theme/topic/revision: Mr Drummond's Classes Both classes will be looking at decimals and percentages in depth. Mrs Lundberg's Class The class will be continuing with decimals and percentages. Mrs Stewart's S2 learners I will spend some time consolidating S1 Learning. Then will move onto Whole numbers and rounding, then decimals and rounding including money. Then Positive and negative numbers. Mr Milligan's S2 learners Following on from our famous mathematician research project and working with money, we will continue with our main theme of numeracy. We will also be looking at more applications of numeracy in topics like Perimeter, Area of Rectangles and Composite Shapes, Measurement, Money Exchange Rates, Profit and Loss and some Personal Finance. 6th May - 8th May Numeracy and introduction to perimeter 11th May - 15th May Area of Rectangles and Composite Shapes 18th May - 22nd May Finance (Exchange rates, Profit & Loss and Personal Finance) |
Signposting written particulars: Young people have been shown individual areas on Teams where staff will set tasks, provide support and feedback of submitted work. Young people will be expected to submit work allocated to their teachers and feedback will be provided where appropriate. As well as this, we will upload booklets where young people can work through exercises, most of which are linked to videos to support them online. Where young people finish tasks set, there is the opportunity to engage in other mathematical activities: · Sumdog - we will be giving young people access to this online platform for them to spend time on. Sumdog will adapt to the learner's ability and will be a great tool for practice. · Mathematical Research Project - A Powerpoint explaining the task is in the "Files" section of the "General" channel in Teams. Young people can create a Powerpoint (or other digital presentation technology) and send back to their teacher for feedback on a famous mathematician or mathematical concept. · Watch a Maths Documentary - there are various documentaries that may stretch mathematical minds available here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EnyudokBACoNVu1SkzMZHYY0_hmuAdZJEOfRMlS6468/edit · Maths Workout is always available at https://www.mathsworkout.co.uk/ Username - Armadale Password - average72 Paper copies of booklets will be made available at the office should they be requested. Young people who are a part of the Maths Recovery intervention have been given materials from their class teacher. |
S3 Learners |
Theme/topic/revision: Mr Drummond's Learners This class will finish off their work on triangles and then move fractions and percentages. Mrs Lundberg's Learners This class will be moving on to fractions and percentages Mrs Stewart's S3 Learners Continue with Circle topic to include parts of circles. Before moving onto revision of numerical fractions. Then will move on to rounding including decimals and significant figures. Mr Milligan's S3 Learners After completing Right Angled Trigonometry we are now progressing on to some Further Trigonometry which includes learning the Sine Rule and also the Cosine Rule, calculating missing sides and missing angles in non-right angled triangles. Also progressing on to calculating the Area of a Triangle (non-right angled) using a Trig formula. Bearings will also be introduced and used in the above calculations. 6th May - 11th May Sine Rule (Side and Angle calculations) 12th May - 19th May Cosine Rule (Side and Angle calculations) 20th May - 22nd May Calculating the Area of a non-right angled triangle |

All S3 young people have been added to a Microsoft Team which they have been shown how to access. There are individual areas for individual classes where staff will set work, guide young people to activities and provide support where necessary. Young people are expected to complete the tasks allocated by their teacher and submit them. They will then receive appropriate feedback from their teacher. S4 Learners |
Theme/topic/revision: National 4 Course. Unit 1 - Expressions and Formulae We will begin with Algebra - like terms, breaking brackets and common factors before moving on to The Circle.
New Team code:

Signposting written particulars: I will make 2-3 power point lessons per week with my voice over to talk through examples. Pupils will have access to a live drop in session once per week for 1 hour and will all receive regular feedback of submitted work. I will make use of Pegasys worksheets and N4 Textbooks. I will continue to be available for all pupils to check work and help with understanding.

S4 Learners |
Theme/topic/revision: National 5 Mathematics Based on the differences between class coverage of National 5 topics find below a basic plan of work for New S4 that will utilise their previous learning. I'm also using different resources to allow classes that have covered topic to have a fresh challenge. Videos of explanation created and embedded into Sway documents that are easily accessed by all young people in the above TEAMS group. Work for self-study activities also identified and embedded in Sway as we move through the work plan.
