Additional Support Needs

Additional needs can be of a temporary nature or affect a student throughout their school career and into the workplace.   Students may require additional support with their learning for a variety of reasons

• Social or emotional difficulties
• Behavioural difficulties
• Problems at home
• Bullying
• Being particularly gifted
• Sensory impairment or communication difficulty
• A physical difficulty
• Being a young carer
• Having English as an additional language

Delivering appropriate provision for students with additional needs is central to the national commitment to inclusion and is underpinned by legislation. 

In Armadale Academy teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as senior students,  support students with additional needs.   This generally takes place in subject classes and through advice and support to subject teachers.  However, where appropriate students can attend our Support for Learning and/or Nurture Base.
