Skills for Life, Learning and Work
Skills for learning, life and work are embedded in and developed across all curricular areas.
Their promotion is the responsibility of all staff. Therefore, opportunities to develop skills is offered in a variety of contexts.
It is important that students are aware of, and understand, the skills that they are developing. Students need time to reflect on why and how they are developing their skills as well as identifying the next steps in their skill development and also how they can apply their skill set in new and unfamiliar situations.

Early Education and Childcare
Early Education and Childcare is a National 5 course available in the Senior Phase
Energy
Energy is a National 5 course available in the Senior Phase. It is jointly delivered by Technologies and Science teachers.
Enterprise and Employability
Enterprise and Employability is a National 4/National 5 course available in the Senior Phase.
Exercise and Fitness Leadership
Exercise and Fitness Leadership is an SCQF Level 6 award available in the Senior Phase.
Hairdressing & Beauty
Beauty Skills and Hairdressing are SCQF Level 5 courses available in the Senior Phase. The two courses are delivered annually on an alternate basis.
Practical Electronics
Practical Electronics is a National 4 course available in the Senior Phase.
Retail
Retail is a National 5 course available in the Senior Phase. The course is supported by local businesses and delivered by Expressive Arts and Technologies teachers.
Skills Academy
Skills Academy is a core subject in S1 to S3. It is delivered by a range of teachers from a variety of curricular areas. Our aim is to make sure that a student's Skills Academy teacher is also their Registration Teacher.
Sport and Recreation
Sport and Recreation is a National 5 course available in the Senior Phase. The course is delivered by Physical Education teachers.
Young Applicants in Schools Scheme
Young Applicants in Schools Scheme, YASS, is available to highly able and motivated S6 students in the Senior Phase.
