Skills Academy
Skills Academy is a core subject in S1 to S3. It is delivered by a range of teachers from a variety of curricular areas. Our aim is to make sure that a student's Skills Academy teacher is also their Registration Teacher.
Teachers draw on a range of approaches to meet the needs of students through carefully planned and well paced learning experiences. The aim is to provide a classroom climate of creativity and innovation, including
- Active involvement in practical activities
- Tasks which require a creative response
- Opportunities to discuss, debate and present to an audience
- Opportunities to learn about learning
- Opportunities to analyse, explore, reflect upon their learning and progress and update their Student Profile via Didbook
- Time to appropriate use of technology
- Opportunities for collaborative and individual learning
In the Senior Phase students can progress seek to gain qualifications in a range of Personal Achievement Awards and Skills for Life, Learning and Work courses. Course outlines and entry requirements are available in our Senior Phase Course Choice Booklet.
