Can YOU care for a West Lothian Child?
West Lothian Council's Family Based Care Service are currently looking for carers to support West Lothian children and young people. Our wide range of services mean that whether you can offer a weekend a month or wish to offer a child a lifelong commitment you can get involved.
Fostering
Our Fostering service offers care to children at a time of crisis in their lives. We are recruiting Short Break carers, Emergency, Fulltime, Permanent and Intensive carers who can help children experience the benefit of a family environment.
Short Breaks for children with disabilities
Our Short Breaks carers for children with disabilities help families of children with additional needs to focus on the good times. By offering a child a regular short break you would be supporting the child to have new experiences and be supporting their carers and family to recharge. We want West Lothian's children to benefit from their local community and create a support network round our families. As a Short Break Carer you would be supporting children in your own home.
Supported Care
Our Supported Care Service offers young people aged 16 to 21 the opportunity to develop independence skills while also having the support of a family environment. Our Supported Carers offer young people leaving the care, and young asylum seekers, the opportunity to take those first steps to independence at a pace that suits them.
Adoption
For some children it's not possible to live with their birth family for a whole variety of reasons. Our adoptive families offer the security and stability of family life forever. In West Lothian we have a variety of children needing adoptive families. Some are on their own, others are part of a sibling group. We want all children who can't be with their birth family to have security throughout their lives.
